house & hip Hop dancer

“Started freestyle late 2017. That was the foundation. Just me, the music, figuring out how to move. 2019 I got serious and started breaking down choreography and foundations, because raw energy only gets you so far. Hip-hop’s still my core. I love it, it’s where I feel most at home. But these last few years I’ve also been locked in with house. Something about the flow and footwork just clicked. I’m not just dancing for me though. I battle, I work on projects, but community is the whole point. I train with Freshmans, that’s where we get clean and stage ready. We also take on gigs, from showcases, to commercial work. We’re always pushing each other to perform under pressure.

Then there’s Flowmotion, my freestyle collective where I mostly discover more of myself in dance. With them it’s all about exploring, flowing, and keeping the movement honest. Also started isdatuz here in Tāmaki Makaurau. It came from that question we always throw around: “is that us?” Now it’s a weekly Hip-hop jam every Wednesday. All levels, no ego. Just a space to connect, exchange, and keep the culture breathing.”

Kevin performed with Tap NZ for World of Dance NZ as a House Dancer and travelled to Melbourne with Tap NZ to perform at the 10th Anniversary of Grounded Battle of the Arts as a Hip Hop Dancer.
